We are conducting a disaster drill in order to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff members, verify the disaster response system, and improve our response capacity in the case of a large-scale earthquake. Please participate to the extent that it does not interfere with your work.
The assumed disaster scenario is that an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 6 or lower occurs in Tsukuba City at the end of the second period (11:25 a.m.).
11:25 a.m. (end of the second period) November 12, 2024 (Tuesday)
~ 11:45 a.m. (simultaneous evacuation drill, announcements over the outdoor public address (PA) system)
~ 12:45 p.m. (Emergency Headquarters Drill)
*For the University of Tsukuba Hospital, a drill will be conducted separately.

※ When the timing of the implementation comes, an announcement about the earthquake will be made according to each department’s circumstances.
On the day of the event, (1) through (4) shall be conducted, and other drills shall be conducted as appropriate.
(1) Ensuring Safety Immediately after an Earthquake

During a disaster, secure your own safety for a period of about 2 minutes including taking cover under a desk. Persons near fire equipment should extinguish the fire. Those near the door should open it and secure the evacuation route.

(2) Evacuation Drill

・Based on instructions from the evacuation guide (in the case of students, this will be your class instructor), seek refuge in the nearest outdoor evacuation area.
・Evacuation guides shall report the status of the evacuation to the person in charge at the evacuation area. ・Faculty, staff, and others will inspect the student dormitories and other buildings to check for those who have not evacuated, those who are trapped, and the injured. |

(3) Drill set by the Emergency Headquarters and report and communication drill | ・The “University-wide Disaster Response Headquarters” will be established in the Annex Building of the Headquarters.

(4) Safety Report Drill

Conduct a safety report drill using the University of Tsukuba Safety Confirmation System (ANPIC). A “safety confirmation email” will be sent by a mass email from ANPIC so register from the URL in the mail text or the ANPIC website mentioned in the official website, etc.

(5) Initial Firefighting Response | Each faculty member and employee should learn about first-aid fire fighting with online educational materials provided by the Fire and Disaster Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

(6) Safety Confirmation of Evacuation Routes | Confirm the evacuation route for each organization in the event of a disaster, and dispose any items, etc. that may hinder evacuation.
