指定数量／ Designated Quantity

危険物を貯蔵したり取り扱ったりする施設では、扱う危険物の量によって設備や検査の基準が異なります。（たくさん扱うところほど厳しくなる）しかし、危険性の高い危険物もあれば、低めのものもあるので、危険物の量（危険性）の基準として、「指定数量」が決められています。その値は、危険性の高い危険物は少なく（少なくても危険が高い）、危険性の低い危険物は多くなっています。

The required equipment and inspection standards differ depend on on the amount of hazardous materials handled at the facilities where the hazardous materials are stored or handled.(handled more, regulated tighter) However, some hazardous materials are highly hazardous while others are less so. Therefore, a “Designated Quantity” is established as a standard for the quantity of hazardous materials.(hazardousness) The value of Designated Quantity of highly hazardous material(even small amounts are highly hazardous) is low and that of low risk hazardous material is high.

指定数量（単位はリットルやkg）の何倍の量の危険物があるのか（倍数：「指定数量の３倍」というように表される）によって、設備の基準は変わってきます。

The specifications of equipment vary depending on how many times(“multiple” : expressed as 3 times of the Designated Quantity) the Designated Quantity(unit is L or kg) of hazardous materials exist.
